POKOTABI / Hinode Shokudo
日の出食堂
Located in Shinagawa's Nakanobu neighborhood, Hinode Shokudo is an unpretentious diner serving early-morning teishoku sets, noodle dishes, and an extensive spread of small plates. Comforting staples range from ramen crowned with a fried egg to grilled mackerel and sauteed pork sets.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A soft-cooked fried egg resting over clear soy sauce ramen delivers an unmistakable sense of home-cooked nostalgia. Tucked down a back street in Shinagawa's Nakanobu, Hinode Shokudo invites diners to step out of their shoes at the entrance, offering comforting teishoku meals in an easygoing space that feels like visiting a relative's house.
Open straight through from 7:00 in the morning until evening, the menu is filled with everyday comforts. Classic set meals pairing rice and miso soup with grilled mackerel, pork yakiniku, or ham and eggs offer simple, familiar satisfaction. For a heartier meal, there is also a substantial katsu curry featuring freshly fried cutlet.
Beyond set meals, Hinode Shokudo is also well suited for grazing across small plates, such as grilled sausages, nikujaga braised meat and potatoes, simmered pork offal, and grated daikon radish with shirasu whitebait. Diners can easily order a cold bottled beer or sour and nibble through a few side dishes, making for a relaxed solo visit.
Payment is cash only, and seating consists of a few tables in the raised, shoe-free dining area. Whether stopping by for an early-morning breakfast or settling in for an unhurried afternoon bite with a drink, it is an inviting neighborhood fixture.
